I hope you had a good week off and are feeling hopeful about the promise of spring.
This Friday, March 29, we will continue our faith topics with “Fellowship and Worship.” Churches talk about “fellowship hour” or coffee hour, and that may bring to mind plates of cookies and donuts and circles of people chatting as their kids cruise up and down the treat table. And that’s a nice picture.
The Bible uses the Greek word koinonia to describe fellowship within the Body of Christ. That word means “participation with others in a common purpose.” The equivalent Latin word is communionem from which we get our word “communion” ― sharing with other believers as well as with God. So fellowship is really everything the church is and does.
And we may not even get to “worship,” which in English was originally spelled “worthship.” Yes, God is totally worth it! Come on Friday with your ideas.
