Hi, Everyone,
I hope you had a great break week. This Friday, March 1, our topic is salvation. This is a much misunderstood and if I may say, slightly scary subject within Christianity. There is even an obscure term to describe salvation, soteriology. Salvation of any kind involves two parties, the savior and the one being saved. So we can say that the effectiveness of salvation depends on cooperation by both parties. We will explore our need for salvation, what we are being saved from and further discover what we are being save to and for what reason. Come on Friday to find out the answers!

Rachel Kalama, a spirited seven-year-old Hawaiian girl, dreams of visiting far-off lands like her father, a merchant seaman. Then one day a rose-colored mark appears on her skin, and those dreams are stolen from her. Taken from her home and family, Rachel is sent to Kalaupapa, the quarantined leprosy settlement on the island of Moloka’i. Here her life is supposed to end—but instead she discovers it is only just beginning. The discussion night is set for Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00 pm at church.

Got Sneakers? The SUMC Choir is collecting sneakers of any kind in any condition to raise funds for their trip to Carnegie Hall. Unwearables are recycled and the choir gets 10 cents. If they are still wearable, the choir gets $1. Please bring your sneakers on Friday. Kids’ sizes are especially needed.
