Last Friday, September 22, we continued on the topic of Wilderness with a look at the biblical character Hagar. We discovered that Hagar ran away to the wilderness the first time, but God told her to go back to her life and face her situation. After Hagar had given birth to her baby, she is sent away, but God is with her. Eventually the wilderness becomes home to Hagar and her son, Ishmael. This Friday, September 29, we will look at the wilderness story of the prophet Elijah.

The Book Club has chosen a new book, Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar. Discussion night is October 3 at 7:00. Please let Becky know if you have any questions
Can a Canaanite harlot who has made her living by looking desirable to men make a fitting wife for one of the leaders of Israel? Shockingly, the Bible’s answer is yes. Pearl in the Sand tells Rahab’s untold story. Rahab lives in a wall; her house is built into the defensive walls of the City of Jericho. Other walls surround her as well: walls of fear, rejection, and unworthiness. A woman with a wrecked past; a man of success, of faith… of pride. A marriage only God would conceive! Through the heartaches of a stormy relationship, Rahab and Salmone learn the true source of one another’s worth and find healing in God.
I hope to see you all on Friday, September 29 at 9:00.
Grace and peace,
