I hope you have been enjoying your summer vacation. Much has happened since we last met.
Megan and her husband welcomed Noah Jude on July 18. He joins Grace and Donald. Congratulations!
We had two wildly successful Craft Nights in July and had fun creating a multitude of crafts to be sold at the upcoming Country Fair, September 8-9. If you’re still working on something or would like to contribute a hand-crafted masterpiece, just leave it at the church any time the doors are open and unlocked and label it to the attention of Diane Johnson. Thanks!
The Book Club has chosen a new book, Pearl in the Sand by Tessa Afshar. Discussion night is October 3 at 7:00. Please let Becky know if you have any questions
Can a Canaanite harlot who has made her living by looking desirable to men make a fitting wife for one of the leaders of Israel? Shockingly, the Bible’s answer is yes. Pearl in the Sand tells Rahab’s untold story. Rahab lives in a wall; her house is built into the defensive walls of the City of Jericho. Other walls surround her as well: walls of fear, rejection, and unworthiness. A woman with a wrecked past; a man of success, of faith… of pride. A marriage only God would conceive! Through the heartaches of a stormy relationship, Rahab and Salmone learn the true source of one another’s worth and find healing in God.
I made a donation to the food pantry at CAPTAIN in our behalf from the loose change we collected every week. The amount of money we collected will have the potential of providing over 545 pounds of food! Thank you for giving so generously.
Last year Friday Morning Moms donated a gift basket to the Country Fair’s silent auction. We have been challenged to provide another basket this year. I will not be available during the Country Fair to coordinate this effort, so we are hoping someone will step up and take the reins. You would need to receive people’s donations for the basket and assemble it. Please let me know if you feel called to do this. Here’s the challenge from Fair Chair, Liz Moran: “see if you can pull together an awesome theme basket for the silent auction. For instance, Friday Morning Moms may want to donate a Baby Basket full of wonderful baby/toddler items, Buildings may choose to do something like a work bucket filled with tools, doodads, and gadgets. You get the picture, right? I’m hoping you will all take the challenge so we can see what group is the most creative!
Please contact Barbara Face (Barbara642va@hotmail.com or 235-3894) directly with you donation and basket idea. She will let you know when she needs the items and where to place them prior to the Fair.”
I have been working on our calendar and some great new topics for our discussions when Friday Morning Moms begins meeting again September 15. Look for the schedule soon on our website.
Grace and peace,
