Friday, December 2, we will begin our three weeks of studying the fear associated with the Advent season. Not to make you uncomfortable, but the Advent and Christmas story, as told in the Bible, is not warm and fuzzy tinsel and contentment. It is filled with reactions, responses, and sadly, despair. This week, December 2, we’ll start with the story from Luke 2:1-14, the classic Christmas pageant script used in the Charlie Brown Christmas story. We’ll take a look at who is afraid and why, and perhaps discover that the world has not changed much in 2000 years, and that God’s love and our hopes remain.
