FMM Advent Study – December 5, 12, and 19 – Figures of the Crèche. The Crèche, the manger scene, whatever you want to call it, it stirs our imaginations. We probably all have one in our home. Some people collect them, and have dozens. They are unique, beautiful, earthy, and steeped with tradition. For our study, which will be open to the whole church, we will invite the sharing of these treasures in show-and-tell fashion. We will explore the gospel accounts of Matthew and Luke, which include the birth narratives of Jesus, and then we will consider the contemporary crèche figures of the 21st century. At our last meeting on November 21, we decided we would like to look at angels, wise ones, and shepherds. So for this Friday, December 5, we’ll be thinking about the angels. Bring your own ideas from your traditions and your inspirations and we’ll learn and grow from each other. We’ll also consider where we stand among the adoring onlookers welcoming God with us – Emmanuel?
Outdoor Advent Wreath lighting (on the front lawn of the church) – Sunday, November 30 at 4:30. This is going to be great! Come for the lighting tonight. Fun and refreshments.
Preschool Mission Project – The Preschool is collection Christmas wrapping paper, tape, ribbons, and bows for the CAPTAIN Toy Shop. If you would like to contribute, please bring your donation to the preschool reception area anytime between December 1-15. Thanks!
RISSE Children Christmas Gifts – If you chose to sponsor one of the children from RISSE this Christmas, you may bring your gifts to Friday Morning Moms on Dec. 5 or 12, or just let me know if you’d like to make other arrangements to drop them off.
I hope to see you all on Friday, December 5, for Friday Morning Moms. Diane will also be leading us in an Advent meditation and we’ll be lighting our own Advent wreath.
Grace and peace,
