We will not meet on October 31 because there will be numerous Halloween celebrations at the schools. I do plan to be at church on October 31 from 9:30-10:30, so if you would like to stop by and bring your little ones in their costumes, or dress up yourselves, I’ll have my camera ready.
We have been asked to host the coffee hour at church on November 2. Beth will be making the coffee (THANK YOU!) and several of you have said you will contribute some food. Those things can be brought on Sunday morning, on Friday morning between 9:30 and 10:30, or just let me know what will work for you. We also need juice, so please let me know if you could bring some juice. Also, let me know if you can help with set up or help serve on Sunday morning. Thanks.
World Hope Gift Fair – Saturday, November 15, 10:00-6:00. A wonderful way to Christmas shop! All proceeds of the sales go back to the producers, many in Third World countries. Beautiful hand-crafted items, Equal Exchange Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate, and much more!
Outdoor Advent Wreath lighting (on the front lawn of the church) – Sunday, November 30 at 4:30. This is going to be great!
FMM Advent Study – December 5, 12, and 19 – Figures of the Crèche. The Crèche, the manger scene, whatever you want to call it, it stirs our imaginations. We probably all have one in our home. Some people collect them, and have dozens. They are unique, beautiful, earthy, and steeped with tradition. For our study, which will be open to the whole church, we will invite the sharing of these treasures in show-and-tell fashion. We will explore the gospel accounts of Matthew and Luke, which include the birth narratives of Jesus, and then we will consider the contemporary crèche figures of the 21st century. Who are the shepherds of today? Who are the wise ones that come seeking a savior? And where do we stand among the adoring onlookers welcoming God with us – Emmanuel?
If I don’t see you this Friday, I hope to see you all on Friday, November 7, for Friday Morning Moms.
Grace and peace,
