Lenten Lessons through the Lens

The season of Lent begins on Wednesday, March 5 and continues through Saturday, April 19. It can be a time in which some will choose to give up something. Some will go about their lives as if it was ordinary time. Some will choose to be more reflective. Have you considered looking for God through a lens? You are invited to join this on-line photo-a-day challenge. Share how you perceive each word or phrase for the day by posting your photo on our Facebook page at Shenendehowa United Methodist Church. No explanation for your photo is needed, unless you want to. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. You don’t have to be a great photographer. This project is more about the practice of paying attention and being intentional, than it is being the best photographer [though we encourage you to get creative! As the weather improves we hope to schedule a photo walk to help inspire you! The photo-a-day words are listed below. You can also find them on our website at www.shenmeth.org and on the facebook page. Need a daily text or email reminder? Contact Donna Rischbieter at dlrisch@nycap.rr.com or text to 518-339-7972.

While this is intended as an on-line study we would love to form a photography group at our church. This new venture will understand spirituality and grace by seeing things in the everyday world as God might see them. In a day when cameras are everywhere, this group will be for everyone. Combining technology, artistic expression, contemplation, and fellowship, this group will be unique in how they interact, reach out, experience God’s creation, and enjoy God’s grace. Any questions? Please contact Donna Rischbieter or Denise Walling at walling_d@msn.com.
