News for the Week

Hi Everyone,

This Friday, February 1, we will continue our study, “Slaying Our Giants.”  Last week we looked at the biblical story of David and Goliath.  You know it.  You probably learned it in Sunday School, and you’ve probably read it or taught it to your own children.  We considered the giant, the boy David, and what David had going for him that the giant did not. David did three things, he rejected the “armor” of others, he used his own resources, and he had a mighty faith in God. If you want to review the story before Friday, you will find it in 1 Samuel 17.

Next, we took what we learned from David’s courage, methods, and relationship with God and applied it to a “giant” in our own lives, procrastination.  It was a great discussion!  This Friday, we’ll face the giant of stress, and using the David formula, we’ll take a crack at slaying stress on the battlefield of life.

“Rhythms for RISSE” a special concert held at the College of St. Rose to benefit the Refugee and Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus will be held Thursday, March 21 at 6:15 PM. Prior to the concert, guests are invited to bid on a variety of donated items and services in a silent auction.  This year the Friday Morning Moms are donating a gift basket for the silent auction.  Becky is coordinating a fair-trade-themed gift basket featuring coffees, teas, and chocolates that the Friday Morning Moms will donate to be part of the silent auction.  If you would like to contribute an item or two for our basket, please bring it by March 15.  Thank you.

The recent weather events are a reminder that our inclement weather policy follows the Shen schools closing decisions.  If Shenendehowa schools are closed or delayed on a Friday morning, Friday Morning Moms will not meet that day.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday, February 1.

Grace and peace,

Denise
